Summary: 

Steve comes down with scarlet fever, and Bucky spends every last penny he has on the medication. He doesn’t regret it one bit, but now there’s nothing left for rent and groceries. Desperate for cash, he starts fighting in underground boxing matches run by the mob.

Every time he comes home late, flushed red and sweating from exertion, Steve assumes he was out with a girl. Bucky doesn’t correct him. He also doesn’t let himself think too hard about why Steve seems so pissed off about it.
